Tribute to Apostle Adrienne Hawthorne

by Bret Wade & Friends

Dear Apostles, Prophets and Lists,

Greetings in Christ Jesus! He is our awesome hope!

I have been doing a bit of reflecting recently. I arrived in Rochester, NY this afternoon for training and ministry during this weekend. Many of you are aware that the church and prophetic school that we have here were established by Apostle Adrienne Hawthorne, the founder of our list. She was suddenly taken in a tragic automobile accident on the way home from ministering in Syracuse. I assumed her ministry position in January of this year. The school had been established years earlier. The church celebrated it's first anniversary this week on October 20th. The inaugural service was just three days prior to Apostle Adrienne's passing.

I still have Adrienne in my heart and thoughts regularly. At times I feel stolen from because we could have done so much more together. Then I think about the value of her impartations into my life. In June, I began asking the Lord to give me the "networking anointing" that she operated in. Today God revealed to me that it had already been released and I am now carrying it.

Prophetess Deborah Rhodes made a custom prayer shawl for me. She personally selected the beautiful cloth in Kenya, Africa. She presented the finished product to me recently at Apostle Joshua Fowler's Strategy Summit '03 (SS3). The pattern in the fabric is a very profound prophetic picture of networking. I had been wearing this new "mantle" insensitive to the statement(s) God was making. It is my coat of many colors - a statement of international anointing. I had been seeking direction for business recently. The Lord told me "it's all in networking - ministry AND business. Your answer is to network in business." How awesome is our God?!

In reflecting, I felt I would resend an edited post from earlier in the year I entitled "I Miss My Friend". Also, at the bottom of this post is a poem written recently by the director of Global Impact Prophetic School. Prophetess Valarie Randleman was mentored by Apostle Adrienne for two years. It is entitled "Ode to M.A.H." I believe it captures a picture of her! Can you see it?

Adrienne, I remember the pain of your departure, but by His hand I am
healed with the joy of your remembrance.

Subject: I Miss My Friend
Author: Bret Wade

Hello Friends,

Greetings in Jesus! I have been meaning to write for some time now. This is long overdue. We had an excellent conference this year in Huntsville with IMPACT 2003. The ministry was excellent. The worship was dynamic. Everything flowed as well as expected. But before we could go into the first service I had to honor my friend, Apostle Adrienne Hawthorne, who was not attending this year. I missed her from the beginning of the conference. Rochester was represented well, but she was not physically there among them.

Apostle Adrienne always served when she came to Huntsville. She did not demand anything. She always offered to assist in anyway she could. For the previous two years, she had administrated the prophetic teams and prophetic ministry. It always worked smoothly when she was around. I miss my friend.

Not only did she serve, but she stayed in my home with my family. Adrienne would call and say "I am coming to Huntsville to see my family". Then we would have her here for ten days at a time. She played with my kids. She became a friend to my wife. She'd pass out on the couch with a computer on her lap. We would find her in the kitchen the next morning with a big smile, a cup of coffee and her computer. She became a family member. I would laugh at all the Styrofoam take-out boxes that she accumulated from restaurants she would visit. I miss my friend.

Though I was her oversight, we had a two way relationship. She was my daughter in the faith. She always submitted and followed my counsel, though it cost her at times. She spoke into my life as much as I spoke into hers. She ministered to my hurts, bitterness and misunderstandings. She listened to me when I was frustrated and needed help. She corrected my insensitive ego and exhorted me in my call and gifting. She would say, "I believe in the deposit of God in you!" I miss my friend.

I realize that some of you may not have had the opportunity to listen to what I had to say at her memorial service or at church services prior to me taking on her position. It may come across that we are trying to change everything that Apostle Hawthorne started. We are not. We are simply taking it to the next phase in the way the Lord has shown us to do it. We honor her by following the will of God in continuing the work she began. The vision is the same but the name has changed. It would have been easier and less expensive for me to have folded to the work. We had to fight to keep the ministry assets. God spoke - "continue". I miss my friend.

I hope to always remember Apostle Adrienne no matter how busy I become. She knew covenant friendship. May I honor her memory in my life and in the work she began. I miss my daughter. I miss my friend, Mattie Adrienne Hawthorne.

Apostle Bret A. Wade

Dear List:

I have been interpreting (sign language) a Creative Writing Poetry class and I have wanted to write a poem about Apostle Adrienne. It has been one year since her passing and as Apostle Bret coined so poignantly, " I miss my friend." Be blessed and warmed with your memories of Apostle Adrienne.

Valarie Randleman

Ode to MAH
By Valerie Randleman

This ode is dedicated to you
Remembering you touched the many, you touched the few.
Our memories are rich of you with the echo of " A baby gots to do what a baby gots to do."
Funny words, yet refreshing as the dew.
We were shocked that you had to depart.
Nevertheless you have a place in our hearts.
Now with this rising dawn,
We " get our praize on!"
Knowing your residence is an eternal one,
Reserved for God's daughters and God's sons.

Dedication to Apostle Adrienne Hawthorne
from Apostle Joshua Fowler - Commissioned International Church

Just before Adrienne graduated we were sending back and forth portions of my book (Access Granted) and talking about it. She meant a lot to me and my wife and that is why I dedicated ACCESS GRANTED to her memory. The following is the dedication for those who haven't read it:

In memory of Apostle Adrienne Hawthorne -Thanks for the impact you made in my life and the lives of many others. Adrienne Hawthorne was one of God's Generals, and she was also a dear friend. She defied religious and racial prejudice and the traditions of men as an African American woman and walked boldly in her apostolic calling. She blazed a trail for men and women, apostles and prophets to follow, and all who knew her honored her as a spiritual midwife, because she knew how to birth breakthrough in the spirit! One of our greatest leaders has been inducted into heaven and will be greatly missed here on earth. To the apostolic and prophetic company that is arising in the earth today, let the words of Apostle Adrienne ring in your hearts every day: "Don't break down; BREAK THROUGH!"
